Unit Director Corner

A big thank you to the BGCS team. Shout out to all the helping hands. Clay Scott and John Smith . Thank you to my support system and my team Jevone, Nymesha, Alexis, Vaetta & Zyquavia. You guys held Trinity down during the process. Matrice, Nymesha , Alexis and Mr. Germann, you never left my side and I appreciate it more than you know. Ms. Carolyn Hallett and her team came through like she said they would, and it meant the world to me and my crew. We plan on developing skits, plays, and all kinds of dance, including stepping, music and painting. Now I'm going to need you, you, and you on the lookout because Trinity is in the house and will be making big noise!

Staff Spotlight

Mr. Germann

Germann Bostic is back with the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills as the Interim Baxter Teen Center Unit Director. Germann started with the Club in 2015 as a volunteer. It is his goal that teens feel like the center is a second home. We are excited to have you back!

Sponsor A Child, Change a Life!
Many of our Club families need financial assistance to cover the cost of Club membership. YOUR gift of $1,179.97 (or $98/month) sponsors ONE child for the entire school year and summer. With this help, members gain access to:
  • Academic Support - At the Club, kids receive homework help and tutoring to put them on the path to excellence in the classroom and beyond!
  • Healthy Meals - Oftentimes, the meals kids receive at the Club - dinner during the school year; breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the summer - are the only hot meals they have all day.
  • Encouragement, Sense of Purpose - Club kids receive the nurturing and support that so many desperately need. Our trained youth development professionals offer educational assistance, formative guidance, and leadership skills necessary for kids to reach their full potential as productive, caring members of our community.

You can help change a life by Sponsoring A Child! Monthly options are available, too!

We have 102 Club kids who still need to be sponsored this year!

What's Happening at The Club

A number of you came out for the Trinity Unity Open House. Thank you! This new facility allows us to serve more kids with richer programming as this move gives us access to a whole wing, playground, and gymnasium which our kids missed during our time at the old location. This site will now serve our K-5 members in the Southern Pines and outlying areas.
The Logan-Blake Unit is having an Open House this Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Enjoy specially decorated Christmas cookies, refreshments and tours of this completely redesigned space. We look forward to seeing you!

A hand flag created by our kids to salute Veterans. This one now proudly hangs at VFW post 7318!
Thanks to our community!
Special thanks to Mary Murrill Oakes, Beth Stevens and Lynda Acker. They planted three types of perennials in the raised bed in the front of the Southern Pines Site, including catmint, shasta daisies, and coreopsi. They also planted ornamental grasses, herbs, hyacinth and narcissis bulbs, and pansies near the brick wall by the back patio, and added three colorful planters on the patio of the Baxter Teen Center, which were filled with ornamental grasses, wire vine, daffodils, and pansies. This project was funded by the CCNC Garden Club. It looks great now and will look wonderful in the spring, too!
