Happy Spring! As the flowers blossom, we are excited and happy to be continuing to change the lives of the kids we serve each day. With us now having all three units open and running, we are starting to see more youth from across the county come and join our youth development afterschool program. I am so thankful for the caring staff members that work hard each day to make a difference. I asked a member the other day to tell me one thing about the Boys & Girls Club that they would change. And she said “nothing- this is my home away from home." Moments like these keep us motivated to keep pushing to serve more youth. Franklin D Roosevelt said "We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future."

Club Kid Spotlight
Meet Ryanna
Our programs geared toward Good Character & Leadership give members the leadership skills needed today to transform them into effective leaders tomorrow. Ryanna has taken on several tasks to keep our Logan-Blake Unit clean and tidy. She was named January's Member of the Month. Well done, Ryanna!

Staff Spotlight
Meet Jevone
Jevone Baldwin started volunteering as a tutor at the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills. Her love for kids and the Club led her to join our staff six years ago! Being able to see the kids smile and know they are enjoying themselves here is one of Jevone's favorite things about working at the Club. Her favorite activity at home is spending time with her daughter Mia, who was named this year's Homecoming Queen at Pinecrest High School.

Sponsor A Child, Change a Life!
Many of our Club families need financial assistance to cover the cost of Club membership. YOUR gift of $1,179.97 (or $98/month) sponsors ONE child for the entire school year and summer. With this help, members gain access to:
  • Academic Support - At the Club, kids receive homework help and tutoring to put them on the path to excellence in the classroom and beyond!
  • Healthy Meals - Oftentimes, the meals kids receive at the Club - dinner during the school year; breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the summer - are the only hot meals they have all day.
  • Encouragement, Sense of Purpose - Club kids receive the nurturing and support that so many desperately need. Our trained youth development professionals offer educational assistance, formative guidance, and leadership skills necessary for kids to reach their full potential as productive, caring members of our community.

You can help change a life by Sponsoring A Child! Monthly options are available, too!

We have 19 Club kids who still need to be sponsored this year!

What's Happening at The Club

We participated in Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Virtual National Days of Advocacy between February 28-March 4. Our CEO, Fallon Brewington, met with elected representatives in the U.S. House and Senate in a digital setting to speak on issues impacting youth and the role the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills plays in the community.

Darilyn Ruotolo, our Mentoring Program Coordinator, recently discussed the signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships as well as red flags to watch for with our Teens. Healthy relationships are built on trust, mutual respect, and compromise.

New playground equipment was recently installed at our Logan-Blake Unit! Our Club members are enjoying the outdoor space there even more now.
Thanks to Our Community!
Members of the New Covenant Fellowship in Carthage held a book drive. They recently delivered lots of books and supplies to our Trinity Unit! Thank you!
