Unit Director Corner

Logan-Blake members are enjoying the summer! They have cooled off at Rassie Wicker Park splash pad, explored the Marbles Museum, ventured to Greensboro Science Center, and bounced around at Urban Air in Raleigh.

Our Chefs of Logan-Blake, led by Mrs. Linda Schneiter, have been using STEM skills in the kitchen to create healthy snacks for all members! They’ve prepared a snack mix, corn dog muffins, yogurt cake, and cupcakes. They are learning about math by mixing ingredients and having so much fun!

Our themed weeks have been filled with fun and creative activities and when members aren’t creating, you can find them outside or in the flex space being active!

We’re looking forward to a new school year and welcoming new                                                               members to our family.

Deon Allbrooks Celebrating 8 years

Congratulations to Deon Allbrooks who is celebrating 8 years with the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills!

He has grown with our Clubs to the position of Director of Operations. Deon says "eight years is my new beginning striving to build an even stronger team and organization to help change lives". We are so thankful for all he does for the Boys & Girls of the Sandhills and this community!
Sponsor A Child, Change a Life
Many of our Club families need financial assistance to cover the cost of Club membership. YOUR gift of $1,179.97 (or $98/month) sponsors ONE child for the entire school year and summer. With this help, members gain access to:
  • Academic Support - At the Club, kids receive homework help and tutoring to put them on the path to excellence in the classroom and beyond!
  • Healthy Meals - Oftentimes, the meals kids receive at the Club - dinner during the school year; breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the summer - are the only hot meals they have all day.
  • Encouragement, Sense of Purpose - Club kids receive the nurturing and support that so many desperately need. Our trained youth development professionals offer educational assistance, formative guidance, and leadership skills necessary for kids to reach their full potential as productive, caring members of our community.

You can help change a life by Sponsoring A Child! Monthly options are available, too!

A new school year means a new group of kids & teens walking through our doors.
We have 190 Club members who need sponsorship for the upcoming school year and summer.

What's Happening at The Club
Our teens had a blast lending a hand at the Humanity for Humanity Sandhills ReStore. Community service is a part of our good character and leadership programming, inspiring our teens to be effective leaders for tomorrow.
Visiting places like the Marbles Kids Museum is one of the highlights of summer camp. Like the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills, the museum promotes healthy and active lifestyles.

The Teens vs. Law Enforcement basketball game tradition continues. Members of the Moore County Sheriff's Office along with representatives from Pinehurst Police Department, Southern Pines Police Department, and the Department of Public Safety recently battled it out in a friendly game of basketball against our teens.
More summer camp field trips! Our kids loved the Greensboro Science Center. Like the Club, it's an experience designed to inspire curiosity and encourage personal discovery.
The Chefs of the Logan-Blake Unit are in the kitchen preparing chocolate-covered bananas. YUM!
Special thanks to incredible volunteers like Mrs. Linda and Mrs. Laurie for helping provide such fun activities!
Thanks to Our Community!
The Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills was thrilled to receive a gift of $500,000 from the Dedman Family.  The family through Pinehurst Resort & Country Club helped the Club open its doors nearly 25 years ago with a gift of the same amount. Read more here.
We are grateful to the USGA and Women's US Open presenting sponsor ProMedica for supporting the Club! Following the US Women's Open, we received a very generous gift. These funds will help us continue to support kids and families in the community.
The Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills is one of 30 non-profit agencies in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida that are successfully participating in a Duke Energy philanthropy program aimed at supporting agency operations by reducing costs and offering support services. "Partnering with Duke Energy and Restore Global provides us with the ability to expand our services and outreach to more youth and strengthen future readiness and resilience beyond our Club walls”, said CEO Steve Kastner.
