With the trees changing color and the leaves falling, the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills is continuing its commitment to changing the lives of young people. Our team is very excited to have some new and amazing members. Having a quality staff that believes in the Boys & Girls Club's core values of working with youth is our goal. It is also a pleasure to have some of the best volunteers working with our youth. Each day, their impact keeps our mission alive. The Club is here to make a difference in each member's life one child at a time. The question may arise as to how this is possible. It's all done with love, laughter, and FUN! I leave you with this:
"Every time a child is saved from the dark side of life, every time one of us makes the effort to make a difference in a child’s life, we add light and healing to our own lives"

Thank you, Caitlin!

It is bittersweet to announce that Caitlin Terry, our Director of Development will be leaving the Club to accept the role as the Executive Director for Friend to Friend.  Caitlin has served many roles within our organization for the last 10 years, always willing to do whatever is necessary to assist us in meeting our overall mission to inspire and educate young people. Her journey with the Club began as Youth Development Professional. She then agreed to serve as a part-time Administrative Assistant alongside her YDP role. Before long, Caitlin was Special Events & Marketing Coordinator before moving into Director of Development in 2019. We will miss you Caitlin but we wish you much success.
What's Happening at The Club
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills was honored for the second year in a row to receive the
Best of the Pines Award for Best Place to Give your Time or Money (Children).
This would not be possible without the support of the community, our members, and caring staff.

The 3rd Annual Cradle Golf Tournament Presented byLin Hutaff's Pinehurst Realty Group Temp Control Inc. was a huge success! We appreciate our dedicated volunteers, staff, Club Kids and our sponsors for making it a great day!

Kathy Virtue invited our Teen Members to a special Played with Heart golf and gala luncheon at CCNC. It was a special day of wonderful food, mentoring, games, and even a little putting. Special thanks to Kathy Virtue and Emmy Martin with Played with Heart.

BGCS Club Day for Kids' was a blast! We had close to 100 kids join us for this fun Saturday event.

Each of our Units honored the memory of 9/11 in their own unique way. The Logan-Blake Unit invited the Pinehurst Fire Department and shared special artwork thanking them and all first responders for their service. The Trinity Unit created a special wall banner with heartfelt messages. The Baxter Teen Center watched a remarkable documentary on 9/11 and discussed the aftermath.

Thanks to Our Community!
The Boys & Girls of the Sandhills depends on help from community partners like the Sandhills Rotary Club. We are grateful for their $2,400 grant. It will go a long way to helping us provide great futures.
We are thankful for our friends with The Golf Capital Chorus. Their continued support, including supporting several young people directly through our Sponsor A Child program, means so much to our Club & the kids we serve!
We are so grateful to Jane Kschinka, who recently donated this glorious creation for us to continue telling its story and encouraging our young people to dream. It's all a part of our mission to inspire, educate, and enable young people from all backgrounds and circumstances to realize their full potential as responsible, productive, caring citizens!

Make a Difference
Many of our Club families need financial assistance to cover the cost of Club membership. YOUR gift of $1,179.97 (or $98/month) sponsors ONE child for the entire school year and summer. With this help, members gain access to:
  • Academic Support - At the Club, kids receive homework help and tutoring to put them on the path to excellence in the classroom and beyond!
  • Healthy Meals - Oftentimes, the meals kids receive at the Club - dinner during the school year; breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the summer - are the only hot meals they have all day.
  • Encouragement, Sense of Purpose - Club kids receive the nurturing and support that so many desperately need. Our trained youth development professionals offer educational assistance, formative guidance, and leadership skills necessary for kids to reach their full potential as productive, caring members of our community.

You can help change a life by Sponsoring A Child! Monthly options are available, too!

A new school year means a new group of kids & teens walking through our doors.
We have 102 Club members who need sponsorship for the upcoming school year and summer.
