CEO Corner

We hope you and your family are navigating through this unfamiliar period of time and staying well.  While this is truly an unprecedented time for all of us, the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills is committed to helping ALL youth and families get through this. If any of you need help securing food during this time, please reach out to us so that we can ensure you have what you need. We're all in this together!

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for all who have asked "How can I help?" in the midst of this pandemic. You are concerned about your own families, but at the same time you are checking in on us. I cannot thank you enough! While we are currently unable to serve our Club members in our traditional manner, we are still doing all we can for them! We realize that when we are able to re-open our doors for kids, our Club families may need to lean on us even more than before. So, back to the question of "How can I help?" -- You can help us ensure that we are able to support them when that time comes. Make a financial contribution today to support our Club kids when we can return to normal Club hours for them. Our Club kids THANK YOU!

Staff Shout-Out

Last week, we made the difficult decision to close our Club sites to Club members until further notice. However, in an impromptu meeting of the leadership team and some staff, we agreed to work together to do whatever it takes to support the needs of the youth in Moore County while school is closed. Our Southern Pines location is a meal distribution site, in partnership with Moore County Schools. Some of our staff members have been loading up the minibus to deliver meals to those who may not be able to get to a meal distribution site during the allotted time.

So, to our Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills staff, we salute you! And, we cannot wait to see everyone back here when we are able to safely reopen our Clubs for our Club members!

March Month of Giving

One of our favorite days of the year, the Jersey Mike's Day of Giving, which was scheduled for today, Wednesday, March 25th, has been CANCELLED. As of the sending of this message, Jersey Mike's in Aberdeen is still open for take-out orders. If you feel comfortable doing so, we encourage you to continue to support Jersey Mike's in Aberdeen this month, where you can still make a donation to our Club at the register. You can also order via the Jersey Mike's app and donate to our Club that way. Our Club kids thank you!

What’s Happening?

We are missing our Club members in our Clubhouses! We wanted to briefly share what our Clubs had been up to during the month of March prior to necessary closing of our doors for the health and safety of our Club members and staff.

The Staples store in Aberdeen recently conducted an in-store supply drive to benefit our Club. Customers were given the opportunity to donate at the register to purchase a wide array of supplies. Our staff stopped by to pick up the donations and say "THANK YOU" to everyone at Staples.

TRINITY
Our Trinity Club members hosted a Black History Month Program for their families. There were presentations and performances in front of a standing-room only crowd!
SOUTHERN PINES
With guidance from local artist Courtney Herndon and volunteer Hartley Fitts, some of our Southern Pines Club members created works of art with alcohol ink. Their paintings were to be paired with flower arrangements displayed at the 'Blooming Art' Exhibition, which unfortunately had to be cancelled. Our Club members enjoyed creating some special works of art!
ABERDEEN
Our Aberdeen Club members also put on a Black History Month Program with our Southern Pines Club members. There were many wonderful performances!
