CEO Corner

Our members and families are dealing with so much right now.  From the uncertainties of school and coping with remote learning as well as the other lasting effects of this pandemic, we are here to offer as much support as we can.  However, we also know that in order to truly do that we must address ALL the issues and concerns facing our members.  As such, today Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills is taking a stand that we will ensure ALL of our members are treated fairly and equitably.

For 160 years, Boys & Girls Clubs have enabled young people to achieve great futures through our mission: to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential. This mission and our core beliefs fuel Boys & Girls Clubs’ commitment to promoting safe, positive and inclusive environments for all – regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, ability, socio-economic status or religion.

As the leading youth development organization, serving 4.6 million youth annually at 4,700 Clubs in communities across the country, Boys & Girls Clubs stand in service to our mission and in partnership with the youth we serve, in our assertion that Black Lives Matter. It is our responsibility to commit to equity in clear, bold ways and to eradicate anything standing in the way of realizing our mission. Against the backdrop of recent incidents, we must acknowledge that opportunities are not equal for all, and that significant and sustained change is required. To advance our mission for youth, we must take action to advance racial equity for the Black youth, families and communities we serve.

Our use of Black Lives Matter is not an endorsement of an organization, personality, policy or political party, nor is it an exclusionary statement. We say Black Lives Matter to refute notions of racial hierarchy and affirm our commitment to equity for Black people, in service to our mission to enable opportunities for every young person.

Sponsor A Child, Change A Life!
Many of our kids need financial assistance to cover the cost of Club membership. Your gift of $1,179.97 (or $98/month) sponsors one child for the entire school year and summer. Without this help, members might not have access to:

Computers and High-Speed Internet – Because of disparities in the availability of technology, many kids are unable to do schoolwork at home and must rely on the Club.

Healthy Meals - Many parents are still out of work, leading to greater food insecurity. Oftentimes, the meals kids receive at the Club are the only ones they have all day.

Encouragement, Sense of Purpose – Club kids receive the nurturing and support many so desperately need. Our trained youth development professionals offer educational assistance, formative guidance, and leadership skills necessary for kids to become productive, caring members of our community.

You can help change a life by Sponsoring A Child TODAY!  Monthly options are available!
Community Support

A very special thanks to Grace Church Groups Ministry for providing meals and prayer (upon request) for our Club families earlier this month!
A big thank you to Blue Cross NC and the Symetra Tour for providing meals for our Club members and their families earlier this month as well. The Symetra Tour is in Pinehurst this week for the Carolina Golf Classic presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. Several players spent the afternoon here at the Club distributing meals to our families. Thanks to all involved!
Whatever it takes...
